Reads #2: To Kill A Mocking Bird
On finishing my previous book I discovered that the last letter, of the last word, on the last page was ‘D’. I immediately thought of my good friend Dave Sowerby, a fellow geek from Aberystywyth University.
Dave’s a keen reader and even camped out at midnight for the final installments of the Harry Potter franchise - clearly an obvious choice!
After some consideration he recommended:
To Kill A Mocking Bird - Harper Lee

Arrow (50th Anniversary edition), 320 pages.
“To Kill A Mocking Bird” was first published in 1960 and won the Pulitzer Prize becoming a modern classic. It has been transformed into a film in 1962 starring Gregory Peck and a play in 1990 by Christopher Sergel and to date has sold over 30 million copies.
I’ve never read “To Kill A Mocking Bird” despite it being part of school syllabuses over the years. I’m looking forward to reading something so highly acclaimed and I must admit to being happier with the 320 pages versus the 506 pages of the previous book.
